i recently moved into my house. in the backyard there was a stump tree. i decided to grow a garden around it. After digging up most of the soil my neighbor came by and said i would have trouble growing anything because that stump was a old pine tree. i didnt remove the stump but removed tons of its roots(electric saw:-) that would interfere with planting.
My question would the acidity affect my future veggie garden?
Theres nothing more inspiring than reading a

Making a hydroponic nutrient formula correctly can be a complicated task. Much like using the right quantity of fertilizer in the soil in conventional gardening. You risk having weak, malnourished looking plants with not enough fertilizer; on the other hand you kill off your budding plants by overusing fertilizer.
Combining fertilizers in the right ratio is vital to figuring out the right hydroponic nutrient formula. Another confusing aspect of the whole thing is how to mix in the fertilizers that are included with your hydroponics kit.
Getting The Correct Concentration
Mixing the fertilizers that you get to the correct concentration is an important step to making sure that you get healthy plants. The fertilizers sold for use in a hydroponic system are concentrated, you will need to dilute and mix them correctly.
You can begin with a concentration of 150 to 600 parts per million. Usually though this concentration can be made even more specific, for most plants you can adopt a hydroponic nutrient formula of around 300 to 400 parts per million.
Stages in Growth
Plants go through different phases of development and growth, so it is reasonable that plants need different nutrients during these different phases. When you are deciding what hydroponic nutrient formula to use you should be aware that there are now different nutrients that are available to suit the different stages of a plant’s life cycle.
‘Grow’ formulae are typically targetted toward plants in the vegetative stage of growth in the plant’s life cycle. Another common naming for this kind of formula is ‘growth’ formula. However once the plants you are growing start to flower you need to change the kind of hydroponic nutrient formula that you use. You should look for formulae targetted with ‘Flower’ or ‘Bloom’.
The strength of the hydroponic nutrient formula must be tailored to the growth stage and health of the plant. If you have a weak plant that is being grown in low level lighting then you should use a weak hydroponic nutrient formula, not a strong one. A strong formula should be used for healthy thriving plants, even if common sense would tell you to do the opposite.
If your plants are thriving and you would like to increase the strength of the formula, you need to do this very gradually. Too quick and you risk killing off your plants. You need to also make sure your plants are in a well ventilated area with lots of light for good growth.
